Betz’s Little Shoppe in Newman Grove, NE offers Quilts, Antiques, and more! Located in a friendly town of 800 people in Northeast Nebraska, Doc & Betz offer an interesting & eclectic atmosphere.
Betty (Betz) started the shoppe as a fashion fabric store September 1, 1984. As demands changed, quilting fabrics were gradually added. This was an easy transition for Betz as she loves sewing & fabrics!
Betz grew up as an avid stitcher in 4-H & started making most of her own clothes by 8th grade. As a graduate of University of Nebraska @ Kearney, she taught Family & Consumer Science for almost 10 years.
In 2009 her husband, Dr. Ed Quincy, (Doc) retired from dentistry & joined Betz adding antiques, seasonal greenhouse, yard art & gifts. They continue to do tuxedo rental, which was started in 2000.
Doc taught science, math, chemistry & biology before dental school & now enjoys cleaning up antiques. That includes parlor, feather weight & antique mini sewing machines! Customers love adding these unique machines to their sewing rooms.
Quilting classes are offered regularly & most are beginner-friendly. Betz tries to choose projects that even the seasoned quilter will enjoy! Students choose their own fabrics/colors!
At 505 Hale Avenue in downtown Newman Grove, Betz’s Little Shoppe is located on three lots with extra space for plantings & barrels of flowers. Watch for the antique girl’s bike parked by the deck! A large barn quilt created by Doc adorns the west side of the shoppe & quilts may be hanging on the rails of the new sidewalks.
Doc & Betz enjoy visiting their four daughters & their families who live in Boise, Omaha, San Francisco & Nashville.
