Prairie Point Quilt & Fabric Shop, located in Lenexa, Kansas, is more than just a sewing shop; we are your creative sewing center. Our shop right outside of Kansas City offers 7500 square feet of pure quilting fun and inspiration! On our shelves are the highest quality of quilting and apparel fabrics, a vast display of notions of all sorts, and beautiful patterns for quilts, bags, apparel, and more. Something fun is taking place almost every day, from quilting and needlework classes to special guest speakers.
Prairie Point is your proud, locally-owned, mom-and-pop quilt shop! Almost three years ago now, we upgraded to our current location, over two and a half times the size of our old store, which allows us to boast a 1000 square feet of classroom space, dozens of quilts on display, and a bright and inviting atmosphere.
We pride ourselves on employing knowledgeable, helpful staff that likes to have fun and is dedicated to the customer. Our favorite thing to do is to help our visitors dream up their next project – and we especially love seeing the finished products! Prairie Point’s classes are one element that really take us above and beyond. We offer a variety of classes for a wide range of skill levels, techniques, and needlecrafts. Our teachers create a warm and inviting environment to explore all sorts of new crafts.
As a creative-minded individual, Susan has had a love for sewing for as long as she can remember. As a former teacher, she continues to enjoy the experience of helping others learn a new skill, especially something for which she herself has such a passion. When they made the decision to purchase the shop, John and Susan were determined to transform it into a warm, inviting, and family-like place; in short, she says, “[I] wanted to take the quilt shop to the next level.” Indeed, such a vibrant and ever-evolving industry requires a spirit of determination, energy, and enthusiasm from everyone involved. Though her role as shop owner may have its challenges, Susan finds that the rewards far outweigh the costs, and it is her determination and love for the craft that ultimately makes our shop beautiful and our customers happy.
Susan and John are so truly blessed to be the recipients of your friendship, patronage, and loyalty through the year and these last eight years. Thank you!
